About Drama Education
We, as the Drama sub-group for Merzifon RKANEP CIP, were crazy worried because we have 20 different children who are waiting for us with their hopes up high. We did our best to make the children be comfortable with their acting skills and their English during the week. We encouraged them made them create their own scenarios and improvise instead of giving them prepared ones. So, they used both their imaginations and drama skills. Their improvisational skills were way better than we had expected! For the big final, they created two different scenes to demonstrate what they had done during the week. Their smiling faces made us go to school in the morning with the same high energy every other day.

A week full of fun, creativity and theatre... When we first came here, we were really worried that the children were going to be shy and unwilling. We played many games and did many warm-ups referring to drama with different groups. Quite quickly, all the children adapted to the activities and we were actually amazed with what they were capable of thinking and creating. Especially in our drama subgroup, we felt very connected and the main reason for that was the enthusiasm we saw in each child’s eyes. Throughout the week they worked really hard to try different things and overcome their shyness, also they improvised many scenes which was very fascinating considering their young age. Despite all the great things they achieved, the moment that we probably won’t forget is definitely the time they insisted staying after school to work on their scene. It showed us how much they cared and loved what they did. We are sincerely proud of their determination and hope that they will continue to let their lights shine like they did throughout the week.
It was our pleasure to work with all these talented students. We have definitely understood that these students were something different, when we just started to work with them on the first day. We started this project to help students discover their talents, enjoy their time, and do some unique activities. At the end, I believe some children improved their performing, projection, and acting skills. They also had so much fun time when they were creating their own improvised skits. One day, we were approaching to the end of the day and when we announced that they could go back to their homes, some of the children screamed that they didn’t want to go home and that was the moment when I realised that we built a great connection among the children. They really surprised me when they started to create their own small skits because they were literally amazing. All of them had a great imagination and I really am proud of them. When people were choosing their sub-groups, I was amazed by the number of students who wanted to participate in our drama class. With the ones both participated and didn’t, we are a great team. Special thanks to all of my students that gave their time to do the best that they can and the ones that wanted to participate willingly. I will definitely miss all of you... Hope to see you all sometime in the future <3 Merzifon CIP contains many of the elements that allow students to explore their interests in various subjects. Our aim is to teach topics, from drama to coding, in an amicable and comfortable environment. We believe that the project itself is not only an opportunity to learn different topics, but it is also a great opportunity to form lifelong friendships. To specifically talk about our sub group drama we play many collaborative games in which students are especially motivated to learn more about their friends. It is also very important for us that our students have an opportunity to express themselves therefore we also play games in which our students are primarily focusing on their body movements and how to use them in the best way possible. |
